Organist/Associate Director of Music

Saint Michael and All Angels’ Episcopal Church is seeking a permanent Organist and Associate Director of Music. In this part-time position, the organist will work with the Rector and the Director of Music to shape the direction of the Music Department, and will play at Sung Mass on Sundays, choir rehearsals, and at other services outlined below. He or she will accompany congregational singing and the adult and junior choirs.

A competitive salary will be based on AGO guidelines. Target starting date – September 2016.

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of Episcopal liturgy, preferably in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, mastery of the pipe organ and skills to work collaboratively with both the Rector and the Director of Music. When you will play:

  • Sunday sung mass at 10:00 am (9:30 am summers)
  • Sunday rehearsals 9:15 am (August through June)
  • Wednesday choir rehearsals 7:00-8:30 pm (August through June)
  • Major Non-Sunday Holy Days (including Epiphany, Candlemas, Ash Wednesday, Annunciation, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Corpus Christi, Michaelmas, All Saints, All Souls)
  • Easter Vigil, Easter Day (3 masses)
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (2 masses)
