Special Event – 2013 Advent Quiet Day

2013 Advent Quiet Day Sponsored by Mary Queen of the Angels Ward, Society of Mary, St. Michael and All Angels

Mary-Woodcut-IsolatedThe 2013 Advent Quiet Day sponsored by Mary Queen of the Angels Ward, Society of Mary, St. Michael and All Angels, will be held in the parish on Saturday, December 7, beginning with Mass at 9:00 am and ending with the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at 3:00 pm. The theme for the day is, Full of Grace: The Mother of God in Advent. Come for the day or as long as you are able. Either way, it will be a great way to enter more deeply into the season of Advent and Our Lady’s important role in the Incarnation of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

A chili lunch will be provided. There is no charge but donations would be gratefully accepted. (Donations by check should be made out to St. Michael and All Angels, with a notation on the memo line indicating SOM (Society of Mary) Advent 2013 Quiet Day.) You do not need to be a member of the Society of Mary to join us for this special event. Friends and family are also welcome. Please register on the sheets on either side of the narthex so we get as accurate a count as possible. If you would like to assist with lunch preparation, set up or clean up, please indicate that on the Registration Sheet as well.

We will be guided throughout the day by our Quiet Day Leader, Father Robert A. Kerr, PhD, Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Westland, MI. A native of Michigan, Father Kerr is a graduate of Ashland Theological Seminary and the Union Institute and University. He has served in a diversity of pastoral settings, both clinical and parochial. He has been the rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Westland for the past four years and is committed to the spiritual and numerical growth of that community. Fr. Kerr is a seasoned clinical psychotherapist, retreat leader, seminary professor, spiritual director, and liturgist. He has a passion for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ in an authentic and relevant manner and leading worship that is both reverent and enthusiastic. Fr. Kerr is also a long-time member of the Society of Mary.

Father Kerr will be the guest preacher at Mass on Sunday, December 8, 2013 as well as leading the Quiet Day. If you are unable to attend the Quiet Day, please avail yourself of this additional opportunity at Mass on Sunday to meet Fr. Kerr.
